Changing Seasons

When summer finally starts to give up her fight, I feel grateful. The Atlanta summer heat can be too much. So, as the autumn breeze rolls in I’m reminded to be grateful. Gathering partners with several organizations to accomplish our mission. This month we want to recognize a few of them.

Big Green Egg Culinary Center is a big supporter of Gathering. We occasionally teach classes there. We recently catered a lunch for them, and we we are proud that the owner was impressed and enjoyed learning about lunch box preparation.

We hosted a big lunch for Cook’s Warehouse last weekend. It went so well.  They had 100 people there and they really loved it. We catered boxed lunches served on trays- Veggie sandwiches and side salads. EVERYBODY went back for seconds!

More recently they hired one of our guys from Atlanta Mission to help out with the Wednesday night dinners. They recently hosted an event, Welcome to the Neighborhood, and we were able to donate a dish to the event.

Many of you may have seen our Facebook live event discussing our need for new kitchen space. We haven’t figured out a long term solution yet, but we are pleased to announce that we are in the process of packing and a transition is happening to a location off of Howell Mill Rd. This location will help us be better partners with Atlanta Mission as it is more convenient for the men. As of right now, we expect that this will provide  a solution for the next six months.

We also have some new partners! Java Cats Cafe has been planning to sell our sandwiches when they open later this year, and Sugar Benders recently decided to do this as well! We are excited that more people will become familiar with what we are doing at Gathering Industries!
