Gratitude
Many of you have heard about Java Cats Cafe– they are getting amazing press, but we’ve also mentioned them in the past. Prior to their opening, we mentioned that they planned to partner with us by selling pre-packaged food made by the homeless individuals who are training with us at Gathering Industries. We wanted to provide an update now that they’ve opened. We’ve been receiving fantastic press opportunities as a result of their commitment to the homeless.
Georgia State University’s award winning independent newspaper recently mentioned us:
The café has a partnership with a non-profit organization called The Gathering. Through this partnership all pre-packaged items are crafted by the homeless men and women employed through The Atlanta Mission. As a result, they are taught the culinary skills needed to find jobs in the restaurant industry to get back on their feet.

They are planning a Neighborhood Poetry Reading this weekend, on May 13th, and it’s a collection of poetry that they’ve shared they “hope will change your perspective on how you see homelessness in our beloved city”. 50% of the proceeds are going to one of three nonprofits, including Gathering Industries. You can RSVP for the event on Facebook here.
Java Cats has even featured us on their About Page — We hope you will check them out and get some lunch while you visit!
